Thank you for visiting my page. I am Helen Jones, author, poet and card-maker. I had my autobiography, I am a Real Person, published four years ago by Authorhouse. This book was 25 years in the writing, due to the sensitive and difficult circumstances I have been through.

I started writing it as therapy for myself, and as I was writing, I was reliving the trauma, so had to put it down and walk away from it until a later time. Hence why it took me so long.

An excerpt from the book reads: I had my husband, my family, and my home—something I’d always wanted. But I just wanted to be a real person with a real, happy family life. Instead, I felt unloved, just a non-person. Not of any use to anyone. And this was my lot.

My book tells why I felt so worthless, as well as the trials that I went through in my marriage, and how I escaped from my living nightmare. Also included in my book are some amusing anecdotes from along the way.

I have written many short stories and anecdotes over the years, and have had lots of poetry published, some by United Press Ltd, as well as a book of comfort poems published by them in 2009.

This is my poem at the start of the book:

A guarded secret
Clothed in shame,
Abused and battered.
No one knows.
He loved her once -
So why? She cries.
Violence, jealousy, threats,
And worse.
Don't give up.
Your life is precious,
A gift from God.
He knows, sees all,
And loves you still.
He wraps his arms around you.
There is a future yet.
